Community Involvement
Aside from his business, Mike volunteers in a few ways to support his local community, and those in which his clients reside.
To honor friends and family members, Mike was a patient volunteer for Hospice of the Valley (HOV), from 2004 - 2020. HOV is a fantastic organization which depends on a high amount of volunteer hours for its ongoing Medicare funding.
In 2014 Mike approached the Town of Paradise Valley with the idea of doing a shredding event as a community service. He was directed to the Police Department and together they set up what has become "Safely Shred", a semi-annual shredding event to benefit residents of Paradise Valley, and PVPD Charities. More recently, we have added the recycling of used electronics with the help of the good people at AZStRUT. This has been a great partnership with the PVPD and their small army of police volunteers that support the event!
Donations made at "Safely Shred" go directly to Paradise Valley Police Department designated charities, such as Special Olympics.
In 2018, I joined the Town’s Advisory Committee on Public Safety (ACOPS) and led an initiative to form a 501(c) (3) charitable foundation to supplement the Town’s budget for public safety needs. We completed this and formed the Paradise Valley Public Safety Foundation, Inc. on which I served as the inaugural President. The Town Council later decided to terminate the Foundation.
Mike also donates thousands of meals every Fall to food banks located in Phoenix, Tucson, Las Vegas and Albuquerque.
